Filming from a balloon | Video & TV Production

Filming from a balloon offers a very stable camera platform. We own a number of un-branded hot air balloons, which can be used for filming and TV. We regularly work with the main broadcasters and independent production companies and our balloons can carry cameraman, director and presenter - something a drone can’t do!

During April 2021 we have been filming our new and very exciting Special Shape in a private location, which allowed us to free-fly and still keep the balloon details secret! We teamed up with Flying Pictures to use a GB Helicopters Squirrel Helicopter, with Pilot Will, DJI Inspire 2 drone and a couple of FPV drones. We managed to get all of the filming done with a couple of tethers and 3 free-flights, with perfect weather. All of the filming was in 4K and this was edited, prior to the on-line launch of the balloon in early May.

These pictures show us flying a Finnish film crew, who were making a documentary with a profoundly deaf presenter, who was visiting Bristol Fiesta and wanted to experience flight in a completely new way. We had a great flight and landed with 50 other balloons at the North Somerset Showground.
